At Map Tech, we want our customers to have a positive shopping experience and be completely satisfied with their purchases. This Returns Policy outlines the process for returns, cancellations, and warranty claims for products sold on our online tech store.

1. General Policy:

1.1. Map Tech is a reseller of various tech products and does not manufacture any goods. As such, the warranty process for products will be handled in accordance with the manufacturers’ processes and warranty policies.

1.2. We are committed to assisting our customers to streamline the warranty process as much as possible, ensuring a smooth and efficient resolution of any product issues.

2. South African Consumer Protection Acts:

2.1. This Returns Policy is in compliance with the South African Consumer Protection Act, which grants certain rights to consumers regarding returns and refunds.

3. Cancellations and Returns:

3.1. Customers have the right to cancel their order and return the goods within 7 days of receiving the products. If the customer exercises this right of cancellation under the Regulations, they will be responsible for the cost of returning the goods. The refund will be processed and paid to you within 30 days from the date of cancellation.  

4. Restocking Fee for Damaged Packaging:

4.1. If a customer returns an item with damaged or non-original packaging, including cases where the packaging has been opened, we reserve the right to charge a restocking fee. The restocking fee, which may be up to 25% of the item’s purchase price, will be determined at the supplier or manufacturer’s discretion, considering the condition of the returned item and its packaging.

5. Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy:

5.1. If an item is bought from Map Tech and arrives Dead on Arrival (DOA), the customer has the option to request a full refund or a replacement. The DOA policy is applicable within 48 hours of the customer receiving the item/s.

5.2. For the DOA policy to be in effect, the customer must contact us within 48 hours of receiving the product. All merchandise and packaging, including cables, manuals, CDs, brochures, etc., that came with the product, must be returned to our premises.

5.3. If any items are missing or damaged, we may refuse a refund until the said items are returned to us.

6. Warranty Claims:

6.1. All products are backed by the manufacturer’s designated warranty, which typically spans one (1) year from the invoice date, unless specified otherwise.

6.2.In the event that you identify a defect or fault in your product, the manufacturer presents the alternatives of repair, replacement, or a complete refund (excluding delivery costs) within the manufacturer’s warranty terms and conditions.

6.3. If a warranty claim is unsuccessful (for example, if it is determined that the  product is not actually defective or faulty), the customer will be held responsible for all courier fees, encompassing collection, return, and any other associated charges, including labour fees.

6.4. To initiate a return or warranty claim, the customer must contact our customer support team at sales@maptech.co.za or fill in our Warranty & Returns Request Form.

6.5. Our customer support team will provide instructions on the return process, which may include providing a Returns Authorisation (RA) number and details on how to package and send the item.

6.6. The customer is responsible for ensuring that the returned item is securely packaged to prevent damage during transit.
